The FORTE Traveling Fellowship is a yearly returning fully sponsored fellowship with rotating topics and the first edition is designed for European Orthopaedic Residents. Depending on the year one or multiple programs will be open for application. The first edition took place in the Netherlands and Belgium and was solely about the shoulder. In 2022 we will focus on knee pathology. We have two programs which are open for application. One of them takes place in Portugal and one in The Netherlands/Belgium.
During this fellowship, the candidates will have the opportunity to visit different hospitals with two to three fellows. It mainly concerns an observing fellowship and you will be exposed to a great variety of surgical procedures and will also be actively involved in scientific discussion sessions. The specialists from the participating hospitals are highly appreciated in their work regarding their subspeciality and will provide you a tremendous amount of knowledge from which you can benefit in your future practice.
2021, Around the shoulder in 7 days, Ferdinando Tosto: I finished the traveling fellowship a few days ago and I am very satisfied with what I have brought home. Thanks to the possibility to collaborate with different skilled surgeons, during just few days, I was able to compare their habits in the setting of the operating room, discuss their indications with them, learn their tips and tricks and understand that there is no single way to take you to obtain a good result, but there is A more suitable way, for each individual surgeon.
2021, Around the Shoulder in 7 days, Kiran Mahabier: During the evenings the social program was a great way to meet the surgeons and talk about shoulders and of course about other great things in life. For me this week boosted my knowledge and further inspired me to want to know all the ins and outs of the shoulder and the pathology that comes with it. We went around the shoulder and want to keep circling it as it never seizes to amaze.
